Description
Lavender Cottage is a late 17th-century house, originally part of a row of cottages. It has a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and a thatched roof, with brick chimneys on the gables and between the right-hand bays. The house is 1½ storeys high and comprises three main bays. There are irregular 20th-century leaded casement windows on the ground floor; these are 2-light windows within the thatch of the left-hand bays. A small, paired, barred casement window is located on the stairs between the left-hand bays. A 20th-century stable door sits between the right-hand bays, accompanied by a small, narrow casement window to its left. A Phoenix fire insurance plaque is displayed in the centre of the building. A whitewashed brick lean-to is attached to the left end, featuring a board door and a single casement window.
