Description

Apple Tree Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 15th century, with alterations in the 17th century, and extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building has a timber frame and one cruck truss is partially visible in the left gable. The brick infill is whitewashed, while the right gable is rendered and whitewashed. The roof is thatched, and there is a brick chimney on the left side. The cottage originally comprised one storey and an attic, with a single bay at the front. The front features a 20th-century glazed and barred door in the center, with a paired barred casement window to the right. A similar casement window is located in the right gable of the attic. Later extensions to the left are constructed of whitewashed brick and render with slate roofs. A single-storey bay on the front has a similar casement window and a 4-panelled ledged door on the left return wall. Later two-storey and single-storey extensions, set back from the main building, include a 19th-century boarded door and 20th-century barred wooden casement windows.
