Description

This is a late 16th and 17th century farmhouse. The timber frame construction features curved braces and brick infill, with whitewashed brick and plaster on the north side and a rubble stone plinth at ground level. The roof is thatched, with a half-hipped design over the lower right-hand bay. A large brick chimney, with grouped thin shafts, is situated between the main right-hand bays. A brick chimney to the left-hand gable incorporates a prominent round projection of rubble stone, built around a large oven. The house has 1½ storeys and an attic, with dormer windows to the rear.

The building has three main bays, with irregular 20th-century leaded casement windows, mostly with three lights. First-floor windows are partly set into the thatch. Two boarded doors are present: one to the right of the left-hand bay, and a lobby entry door between the right-hand bays that features a slightly arched lintel, a casement window, and a Sun fire insurance plaque above. An additional bay to the right is lower and clad in weatherboarding, with a door to the left and two single leaded windows. A tiled lean-to is attached to the north side.
