Workshop With Water Tower 60 Metres To North West Of Canal Bridge

This building is a canal workshop constructed around 1848, located 60 meters northwest of the canal bridge in Bulbourne, Marsworth. It is made of yellow-brown brick, featuring white brick window heads and arches, with an eaves band course and minimal corner pilasters. The workshop has a slate roof and is a single storey. The facade facing the canal has five windows with segmental heads; two on the right have cast iron glazing bars, while the remaining three are wider and have narrow vertical glazing bars. The right gable includes openings with semi-circular arched heads, featuring central double doors with a radiating fanlight, flanking windows with wooden glazing bars, and a smaller window in the gable. At the rear, there is a lean-to. In the northern corner of the left gable, there is a later 19th-century water tower, which has three stages. The lower stage is rendered and whitewashed, while the upper two stages are made of brown brick with red brick corner piers, cornices, and window surrounds. The water tower has a pyramidal roof covered in fishscale tiles, with splayed eaves supported by shaped wooden brackets. The lower stages have openings with semi-circular heads, while the upper stage features round windows.
