Description
Bakers Cottage is a house that originally dates back to the 16th century, consisting of two bays, with an extension added to the east in the 18th century and another extension in the 20th century. The original bays feature a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill, and the jetty is underbuilt with whitewashed brick. The 18th-century bay to the right is constructed of similar brick in English bond. The house has a thatched roof that is hipped to the right, with brick chimneys located on the left gable, to the right, and between the right bays.
The building is two storeys tall. The left bay contains a three-light wooden casement window with arched glazing bars on the ground floor. The right bays have irregular leaded casements, with each first-floor window consisting of three lights. There is a 20th-century door situated between the right bays. The right extension is made of whitewashed brick with a tiled roof, while there is an outshot of whitewashed brick with some timbering at the rear. The left gable features a lean-to, leaded casements, and a small blocked 16th-century three-light window with chamfered mullions.
Inside, the cottage reveals more timber framing, wind-braces, and queen strut trusses, with many of the timbers having been reused.
