Description
No. 14 West Street is a cottage dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with light scantling, brick and plaster infill, and a thatched roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a three-unit lobby entrance plan and is two stories high with a three-window range. There is a 20th-century plank door located to the right of the center. The ground floor includes a three-light casement window in the center, a two-light sliding casement window on the far right with glazing bars and small panes, and a small canted bay window on the far left with sash windows. The first floor has leaded casement windows, with one window consisting of three lights and the others on either side also having three lights. The roof is hipped at the end facing the road. Originally, this building was two cottages and later served as a tollgate house. The interior has not been inspected.
