Description
Hard-to-Find Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 16th century, featuring a cross wing to the right and a two-bay wing from the 17th century to the left, which has been altered. The exterior is clad in 20th-century weatherboard over brick, topped with a tiled roof that has a hip over the left bay and rebuilt brick chimney stacks at the rear. The building is L-shaped, with a 19th-century extension at the rear of the cross wing. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, with the right bay being gabled and projecting. The windows are 20th-century wooden casements, mostly with three lights, but there is a five-light window on the ground floor to the right. A 20th-century door is located in the right return of the right wing. The single-storey rear extension from the 19th century is constructed of flint and brick and features a hipped roof. The attached outbuildings to the right are not of special interest. Inside, timber framing is visible in the internal walls; the cross wing includes arched wind-braces and a central open truss with curved braces supporting a cambered tie-beam. There is an early 19th-century surround to the fireplace, which has a gun-rack above it.
