Description
11 and 12 Well Street is a dwelling with two shops, likely built in the early 18th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is rendered and features a plain-tile roof with incised masonry patterns. It probably originally had a two-unit plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range.
The wide central 19th-century sash window has a moulded wood surround and a straight hood supported by three shaped brackets. This window is flanked by 20th-century shop doors; the door on the left is approached by two stone steps, while the one on the right has one stone step. There are 20th-century shop windows at the far left and right, set on rendered canted bases.
A narrow window with 19th-century margin glazing is located in the centre of the first floor, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. The building has a rendered plinth with rusticated quoins, a first-floor storey band, and wood modillion eaves. There is one gabled roof dormer window on the right side. The left side features a rendered storey and eaves band, along with a 20th-century window in the gable. At the rear, a two-storey wing projects to the right, and there is a narrow two-storey wing to the left that runs parallel to the front range.
