Description
Nos. 7 and 7A on Well Street are two shops and a dwelling, built in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The building is rendered, likely over brick, and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and is three stories tall with a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel, part-glazed door with panelled reveals, a reeded wood surround, and a cornice hood with decorative paterae at the top angles. There are 20th-century shop fronts on both the left and right sides. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows on either side of a central blank window, while the second floor features six-pane sash windows. The building also has a rendered plinth, with storey bands at the first and second floors and bracketed wood eaves. To the left, there is a rainwater head adorned with a relief ornament of a ring.
