Description
No. 10, Well Street is a house dating to 1726, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front is rendered with incised masonry patterns, and the roof is covered in plain tiles. The house follows a two-unit plan, with a three-window front. A central four-panel door is approached by two stone steps, and has an overlight and a rendered surround featuring Tuscan pilasters, supporting an entablature and a low pediment. There are 8-pane sash windows on the ground floor to the left and right, and 6-pane sashes on the first floor. A pair of gabled dormers light the attic. Further details include a rendered plinth, a first-floor storey band, and moulded, rendered eaves. A datestone to the right of the central first-floor window is inscribed with “P(?)G/ 1726”. A two-storey extension is present at the rear. The interior features boxed spine beams and a dogleg staircase with stick balusters, scrolled tread ends, and a ramped and wreathed mahogany handrail.
