Description
Wycliffe House is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and further extensions and changes in the 20th century. It is built of coursed limestone rubble, with the front rendered, and features a plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a two-window range.
The central entrance is a 20th-century door accessed by four stone steps, featuring an overlight, panelled reveals, and a rendered surround. This surround is adorned with Roman Doric pilasters that support an entablature and pediment. On the ground floor, there are 16-pane sash windows on the left and right, each with moulded, rendered eaved surrounds. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, also with rendered surrounds and console brackets beneath the eaves. The house includes a rendered plinth, thin pilaster strips at either end, and a central hipped dormer window.
Inside, the property features stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a timber lintel. The roof structure consists of collar trusses with two tiers of purlins.
