Description

Tudor Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, rendered over, and features a plain-tile roof and a rear stack built of coursed squared limestone. The cottage has a 2-unit plan and a 2-storey, 2-window front. A 6-panel door, set just left of centre, has a moulded wooden surround and a hood supported by shaped brackets. There are 16-pane sash windows with moulded wooden surrounds on both the ground and first floors, along with a small attic window in the left gable. A stair projection extends from the rear of the building, alongside the stack. The base of the cottage is constructed of coursed limestone rubble. The interior includes chamfered spine beams, a blocked inglenook with a chamfered bressumer, and a corner cupboard in one ground-floor room, with a glazed door containing old crown glass and shaped shelves. There is also a cellar. A corner fireplace is located in the first-floor room. The roof is a collar truss design, featuring chamfered round-arched bracing and one tier of purlins.
