Description
Aygill Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse and cottage combined under one roof. It features rendered rubble and a stone slate roof, standing two storeys tall with a total of six first-floor windows. The farmhouse section has four first-floor windows, with quoins in the render. The central entrance is a six-panel door set in an ashlar surround. The first bay has fixed-light windows with 20 small panes, while bays two and three have sash windows in slightly-chamfered ashlar surrounds; the ground-floor sash windows are raised in height and have dripstones above them. There is a fire-window on the first floor to the right, and the left side has a shaped kneeler and ashlar coping. The end stacks are also made of ashlar.
To the right is the cottage, which has a plain doorway that used to lead into a through-passage on the left. There are no ground-floor windows on the front of the cottage, but on the first floor, there are openings for a window and a fire-window similar to those in the farmhouse. The right side also features a shaped kneeler and ashlar coping. Inside the cottage, there is a kitchen range with an ingle-beam and witch-post, along with a very tight staircase located in the corner behind it. There is a fire-window on the rear elevation.
