Description

This milestone, located approximately 250 yards west of Brig Cottage, is likely from around 1822 when the road was realigned for the Sedbergh Turnpike Trust. The stone stands about 2.5 feet high and has a square base with a rounded upper section. It features incised sans-serif lettering, with "SEDBERGH 6 MILES" on the north face and "KY STEPHEN 8 MILES" on the south face.
