Description

Milestone located on Cautley Road (A683) in Sedbergh, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a short triangular shaft with a semicircular head. The head has raised lettering that reads "SEDBERGH & KIRKBY STEPHEN / ROAD / CAUTLEY." The left and right faces of the shaft display the distances, stating "SEDBERGH / 5 MILES" and "KIRKBY / STEPHEN / 9 MILES." This milestone is one of four remaining in a series of five within the parish.
