SD78NW DENTDALE 162-1/11/127 (North side) 14/06/84 Barn approx. 15m west of Peggles Wright Farmhouse (Formerly Listed as: DENTDALE Peggles Wright and Barn to west)

GV II

Barn, with attached shippon to rear and stable with hay-loft at north end. Probably later C18; extended. Roughly-coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan at right-angles to hillside, with stable at higher north end and shippon added to west side. Segmental-headed wagon doorway in centre, with dressed chamfered surround; square-headed doorway at left end with stable-door, monolith lintel and slate drip-course over; one slit breather between these doorways and 8 similar breathers above. Square-headed doorways[s] to right, now under C20 corrugated sheet roof. Attached at this end, and built into bank, is 2-bay stable with hay-loft, 2 doorways to the latter approached by long L-shaped ramp. Left gable has 3 small windows and 3 breathers above. Lean-to shippon covers rear wall. INTERIOR: not inspected. Forms group with Peggles Wright Farmhouse approx. 15m east (qv).
