Description

This building is a bank barn located to the north-east of the Swan Inn, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble and features a slate roof. The south elevation projects forward at the eastern end and includes an outshut with a catslide roof. There are two barn entrances: one to the west of the forward break and another to the west of the outshut, both featuring pentices and paired doors, with the former also having a smaller inserted door. An additional entrance has been inserted at the west end, and the outshut has a return entrance.

The east gable end features a two-light double-chamfered-mullioned window with intermediate bars, along with a window below it and another double-chamfered window to the right. There are four cow house doors, three of which have segmental arches and are located under the remains of a dripcourse, with pivoted doors. The gable also has three pigeon loft openings. The north elevation also breaks forward at the eastern end and has a later lean-to outshut at the western end. It includes a double-chamfered window and a plain window at the eastern end, along with a winnowing door above and another winnowing door to the west of the forward break. Square ventilation holes are present as well.

Inside, the barn has ten collar and tie beam trusses with cambered collars. The outshut contains a small structure made with riven stone slabs in timber framing on three sides, a wide-boarded door with strap hinges, and remnants of a lath and plaster ceiling.
