NEWBIGGIN VILLAGE STREET SE 0085-0185 (south side) 15/115 The Cottage (formerly listed as The 25.3.69 Cottage [House dated 1717]) GV II

House. Dated 1717. Rubble, stone slate roofs. U-shaped plan with 2 continuous rear service wings, 2 storeys, 2 first-floor windows to south elevation. Ground floor: 2-light window in double-chamfered surround with recessed flat-faced mullion; two 3-light double-chamfered mullion windows. First floor: 3-light double-chamfered mullion windows. Shaped kneeler and moulded ashlar coping to right. Stepped end stacks, of ashlar to right. Rear: ground floor from left: two 2-light double-chamfered mullion windows; 4-pane fixed-light window; 4-panel door in ashlar quoined chamfered surround with inscription "EW 1717" on lintel, and cornice above. First floor: 3-light and 2-light double-chamfered mullion windows, in paired gables with shaped kneelers and moulded coping.
