Lower Allescholes

Lower Allescholes is a house built in 1715, constructed from random rubble with a slate roof. It has two storeys and a two-cell plan with an entry at the gable. The south front features double chamfered mullioned windows with four lights, although two of the mullions have been removed, and a six-light window with a king mullion. On the first floor, there are three flat-faced mullioned windows with three lights each. The gables are coped and have kneelers, with two stacks on each gable. The rear of the house has quoins and two chamfered mullioned windows with six lights on the ground floor, as well as three chamfered two-light windows on the first floor. Attached to the left end is a single cell that retains two chamfered two-light mullioned windows on the first floor. Inside, there is a segmental arched doorway to the gable, which is now covered by a 20th-century extension and is inscribed with "R:H:1715" in a simple chamfered surround. The rear kitchen features re-used timbers with half-lap joints.
