Description

Milestone located at the corner of Old Scotch Road, likely dating from the early 19th century. It is made of dressed stone and has a square shape set diagonally to the road, with each face featuring a rounded head. The left face is inscribed with "KIRKBY/LONSDALE/3" and the right face with "KENDAL/9", both in sunk ovals. At the base, it reads "LONDON:253". This milestone marks the Kendal to Kirkby Lonsdale turnpike road, established in 1753.
