Description

Mansergh War Memorial is a First World War memorial, built around 1920, located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter in Mansergh, Cumbria. It is prominently placed outside the west window of the church, near the path leading to the church entrance. The memorial features a plain stone Latin cross on a tapering shaft, which stands on a tapering plinth and a two-stepped base. The plinth and the top step of the base display inscriptions in incised lettering. The inscription reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE LADS FROM MANSERGH WHO FOUGHT AND DIED FOR THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919" followed by names, and "1939 – 1945" with additional names.
