Description

Dee Side Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the early 18th century, with later additions and alterations. At times of inspection in July 1994 and May 1995, it was noted to be unoccupied. The building is constructed of whitewashed mixed rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a single-depth plan with two units, where the first unit is likely an early addition, and includes a full-height rear outshut.

The exterior is two storeys high and features a symmetrical main range with a gabled porch at the center. The porch has a square-headed outer opening and an inner doorway, both covered by a blue slate roof. Flanking the porch are top-hung casement windows that imitate four-pane sashes, which have lintels and hoodmoulds from former three-light chamfered mullion windows. To the left of the porch, there are inserted four-pane windows on each floor, and above that to the right is a similar window. Offset to the left of center on the first floor is a small two-light chamfered flush mullion window. The added first unit has one smaller top-hung casement on each floor and a small one-light window to the left at ground floor. There is a gable chimney to the right and a ridge chimney at the former gable to the left. A later outhouse is attached to the left end of the farmhouse. The rear of the building features a catslide roof on the outshut. The interior was not inspected.
