Description
The former barn, located approximately 20 meters northwest of Catholes Farmhouse, is a bank barn that has been converted into a bunkhouse. It likely dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations. The structure is built of mixed random rubble with large quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a rectangular plan oriented on a north-south axis, with a former shippon at the south end and an added lean-to at the north end. There are slit breathers in both side walls, which now have inner glazing. The barn has opposed wagon doorways at the center, both featuring shallow segmental heads and rubble voussoirs. The west doorway has a stone slate course above it and remnants of a former porch to the right. The interior has been remodeled. This barn is part of a significant farmstead group that includes Catholes Farmhouse and another bank barn located approximately 100 meters to the north.
