SD69SE CATHOLES 162-1/6/279 (North side) Former barn approx. 20m to north-west of Catholes Farmhouse

GV II

Bank barn, now bunkhouse. Probably C18; altered. Mixed random rubble with large quoins, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan, on north-south axis, with former shippon under south end, and added lean-to at north end. Slit breathers in both side walls, now with inner glazing; opposed wagon doorways to the centre of the hay-barn, both with shallow segmental heads and rubble voussoirs, that on west side with a stone slate course over it, and remains of a former porch to the right. INTERIOR: remodelled. Forms part of a significant farmstead group with Catholes Farmhouse (qv); and with bank barn approx. 100m to north (qv).
