Description
Plaintree House is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof and has two storeys. The front features two first-floor windows and a large central projecting pent porch that includes a doorway and a small window. The inner doorway has been slightly moved to the right. The original windows were mullioned but have since been altered. On the ground floor, there is a blocked fire window to the left, a three-light window that has been converted to a square sash to the left of the porch, and a blocked two- or three-light window to the right of the porch. The first floor has been raised and now features two four-pane sash windows, along with a blocked single-light window at the original level above the original doorway. The house has crude kneelers and copings, with two end stacks. At the rear, there is evidence of a shallow projecting stair turret and an added outshut with an end fireplace. Inside, all four rooms were heated.
