Description

The Post Office, also known as South View Cafe, is a building that dates back to the 18th century. Originally a house and cottage, it now serves as a house and post office. The structure is made of limewashed rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof.

The house is two storeys high and has a double-fronted design. The entrance is framed by a moulded surround and features a six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. The windows have plain surrounds and recessed flat-faced mullions, with most having two lights, except for the right-hand ground floor window, which has three lights. The windows are a mix of four, six, and eight-pane sashes, casements, and fixed lights. There are limewashed ridge stacks on the left-hand gable and at the junction of the former gable and the cottage.

The cottage is also two storeys tall and consists of one bay, with its facade slightly set back from the house. It has a central ground floor entrance beneath a 20th-century porch, and a 20th-century ground floor bay window to the left. The right-hand ground floor window has a plain surround and a 19th-century sash without glazing bars. The upper floor features a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with a plain surround and casements. There is a stone ridge stack on the right-hand gable.

This property is prominently located in the center of the village next to the bridge.
