Description
The Lister Arms Hotel is an inn dated 1723, which was raised in height and had its windows changed in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings, while the left-hand gable is rendered. The building features a stone slate roof and stone gable end stacks. It has two bays and three storeys, with a double-fronted and nearly symmetrical appearance. The entrance includes a door flanked by plain pilasters that support a lintel and cornice above. An oval datestone with the initials R and a wineglass is positioned above the door. The windows have plain raised surrounds, with 16-pane sash windows from the 19th century on the right side of the ground floor, and 20th-century windows with glazing bars above. The right gable end shows evidence of heightening. To the left, there is a barn and stable range that has been altered, but original openings are still visible. A moulded lintel dated 1702 is found in a lean-to at the rear and is believed to have originated from the Buck Hotel, which was demolished in the 19th century.
