Description
Ravens' Seat Farmhouse, dated 1730, features an inscription for Thomas and Jane Hall on the front door lintel. The farmhouse has undergone later alterations. To the right is an adjoining barn range, and to the left is a cart shed, both added later. The house and part of the barn are constructed from stone blocks, while the barn extension and cart shed are made of coursed, squared rubble, with three rows of projecting through-stones on the cart shed. The roofs are graduated slate with stone coping and kneelers on the north gable of the house.
The two-storey, three-bay house has a rear wing and a symmetrical front with a central gabled porch that features a plank side door. There are three-light windows on either side of the porch and two 2-light windows above, with a blocked window in between. All windows are casements with segmental inner heads and glazing bars, and they have ruled stone surrounds and mullions. A corbelled stone chimney is located at the north end of the house.
The two-storey barn range has four bays in total, with a plank door in a chamfered surround to the left, two casements, and loop lights to the right. The stone chimney from the house is incorporated into the north end of the barn. The single-storey, two-bay cart shed has a wagon entrance at the rear.
