Description
Low Stennerskeugh Farmhouse and adjoining byre are a farmhouse and byre of probable mid- to late-18th century origin, with a byre that may be late 17th or early 18th century. Later additions and alterations have occurred, including the conversion of part of the byre. The farmhouse is built of wet-dashed rubble, while the byre is constructed of coursed squared rubble with quoins. Both have graduated slate roofs, with stone-flagged eaves to the byre. The building is six bays wide overall, with the two--storey farmhouse being three bays wide. The farmhouse has a central glazed door, flanked on each floor by 16-pane sash windows. The byre has a central plank door and a window on each floor to the left, and a vent-slit to the right. A segment-headed stair window is located on the rear of the farmhouse. The farmhouse features stone coping and kneelers to the north gable, along with corniced stone end chimneys. Internally, the farmhouse has 18th-century panelled doors and fireplaces to the ground floor front and rear. A lean-to garage adjoining the south return is not considered to be of historic interest.
