Description
Coverley Farmhouse, Dale View, and the railings are two houses dating from the mid to late 18th century, with 19th-century railings. The buildings are constructed of rubble, with the left house featuring coursed stone, and both have stone slate roofs and cast-iron railings. They are two storeys high and have two first-floor windows each.
The left house has raised quoins and a central part-glazed door set in an ashlar surround with bases and imposts. It also has sash windows in raised ashlar surrounds, shaped kneelers, and ashlar coping, with end stacks. The right house has quoins on the right side and a similar central part-glazed door in an ashlar surround with imposts. It features sash windows in ashlar surrounds, a shaped kneeler, and ashlar coping on the right, along with a stack at the right end.
On the right return, there is a chamfered doorway and two surrounds of 2-light double-chamfered mullion windows. The side walls leading to the garden are made of rubble, swept, and have rendered terminals with sandstone caps in a horseshoe-ogee design, one of which bears the initials "FAB" and the date "1865". A low rubble front wall with canted-section ashlar coping supports the cast-iron railings, which have fleurs-de-lys finials. In front of the house stands a very old trimmed pear tree.
