Description

Manor Cottage is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with likely alterations from the early 19th century. The front is made of coursed squared rubble, while the sides and rear are constructed from uncoursed rubble, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with quoins at the corners. There is a 20th-century board door on the left, set in a plain stone surround.

On the ground floor, there are two 4-light recessed chamfered mullion windows, with the left window featuring a king mullion between the first and second lights, and a string course running above all the windows. The first floor has a central 4-pane sash window in a sawn stone surround, flanked by two 2-light recessed chamfered mullion windows made from reused materials. The house has end stacks, and on the right return, there is a blocked recessed chamfered mullion window on the first floor.

The interior was not inspected during the resurvey. It appears that the building's facade underwent significant rebuilding in the early 19th century. The original king mullion was centrally located in the window, indicating that the 17th-century house may have been one bay larger or had an entrance in the gable end, with the left two lights removed to accommodate the later door. The eaves were raised when the house was reroofed, likely at the same time. Manor Cottage is similar in style to Yew Tree Farmhouse.
