Description

The Guide Stone is an early 18th-century sandstone guide stone located in West Witton. It stands approximately 500 millimeters high, with a square shaft and a slightly larger square head that features a hole in the top surface. There is a bench mark on the south side of the shaft. The east side of the head is inscribed with "Middleham," the north side with "Askrigg," and the west side with "HAWES."
