Description
The Fox and Hounds Inn is an inn that was formerly part of Catheral Hall. It dates from the early 18th century, although it may have an earlier core and has undergone significant alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast rubble and has an artificial slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows on the first floor, with a cross-wing gable-end facing the road and flanking outshuts.
The entrance is located in the gable-end of the right outshut, consisting of a board door set within an ashlar surround that includes a keystone. Above the entrance is a double-chamfered surround containing a 2-light mullion window, which now has a side-sliding sash. In the centre of the building, there is one bay of sash windows with glazing bars, also framed in ashlar surrounds. The left outshut features additional sash windows with glazing bars. The central part of the building has shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, and there is a lateral stack on the left side.
