Description
Hollins House and the cottage known as The Hollies are located on Main Street in West Witton. They date from the mid to late 18th century and are constructed of coursed stone with sandstone ashlar dressings, topped with a stone slate roof. The building features two storeys and has a layout of one bay for the cottage and three bays for the house.
The house, situated on the right, has raised quoins and a central door with six fielded panels set within an architrave. This door is adorned with a frieze and cornice supported by consoles. The house also has sash windows, each framed with architraves. The roof displays shaped kneelers and ashlar copings, with end stacks, one of which is made of brick.
To the left, the cottage is a lower two-storey range with flush quoins. It features a part-glazed door set in a plain ashlar surround, topped with a projecting slab cornice supported by plain corbels. Above the door, there is a nine-pane unequally-hung sash window, also in a plain ashlar surround, and the cottage has a hipped roof on the left side.
