Barn to south-west of Waitby Farmhouse

Barn, originally large farmhouse. Dated 1690 with later alterations. Coursed, squared rubble with gable ends raised to take present graduated-flag roof of 5 King-post trusses with carpenters marks. 2 storeys; original house of 5 bays, extended as barn to west later. 2 bay outshut to rear. Front of house has 3 windows to left of door and one to right, all under continuous hoodmould with labels (partially destroyed by enlargement of door). Remains of at least 4 windows to 1st floor and one later door (occupying site of original window?). Remains of 5 windows to rear of building; all windows are 2-light with chamfered stone surround and mullion excepting right-hand window to 1st floor front which has semicircular head and initialled datestone above. Internally, ground-floor fireplace with stone architrave and corniced mantel survives in east wall. Later extensions to front and rear are not included.
