Description
This house, located approximately 685 metres north-northwest of the Church of St Peter in Smallburgh, dates from around 1770. It is constructed of brick with a pantiled roof, which is black glazed on the front. The building has two storeys and is arranged in three bays. The central entrance features a panelled door set within panelled reveals, and is framed by a doorcase supported by fluted columns with bases and splayed incised capitals, topped with a flat-headed hood. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, set beneath gauged skewback arches. The corners of the house are accentuated with pilasters. The roof is gabled with a bell shape, and the original roof line is still visible on the north gable. There is a late 18th-century single bay extension to the south, which is also two storeys high and features one casement window on each floor, both under segmental heads. The house has internal gable end stacks and a ridge stack at the junction of the house and the extension.
