Description
The Rookery is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of white and red brick with a black pantile roof. The building has two storeys and features a three-bay garden facade, with a slightly projecting central bay made of white brick. This central bay includes a doorcase with console brackets that support a plain cornice, and it has double doors where the lower half is blank, with three glazed panels above each door. The flanking bays are made of red brick with a colour wash. The sash windows have glazing bars and are set under flat rubbed and gauged brick arches, with the sills of the ground floor windows positioned almost at ground level. The corners of the house are accentuated by white brick pilasters that support a cornice, and there is a parapet above. A stack is located on the right-hand gable end. There is a 19th-century three-bay extension to the right that has similar window features and is also made of red brick with a colour wash. At the rear, there is a service range.
