Description

The cartshed located 100 metres west of Ranworth Old Hall is a medieval structure built of flint with a thatched roof. It has a square plan and is open at the eastern side. The walls are primarily flint, with some brickwork incorporated, and there are remains of clasping buttresses at the corners, along with traces of ashlar facing. The roof is a 19th-century thatched hipped design. This building may have been the first on the site of the Old Hall and is thought to be the source of the re-used stone found in other nearby buildings. Its original purpose is unknown.
