Description
Northgate House, located at 12 Northgate and Little End at 12B Northgate, is a 18th-century building with a Palladian style on its main front. It stands two storeys tall and is constructed of red brick, featuring a stone cornice and a parapet with stone coping. The building has a rendered plinth and the central section projects forward, supported by two-storey brick pilasters that have moulded brick caps and bases. The central portion includes a brick architrave and frieze. The roof is plain with end gables and apex chimneys, covered with pantiles.
To the north, there is a lower two-storey wing with three windows that lacks stonework but features a wooden bracket cornice. The main block has windows arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern, consisting of sashes in flush frames with flat arches, stone keys, and cills. The entrance features a six-panel door set within a pedimented Doric case, an arched patterned fanlight, three-quarter columns, and triglyphs.
Inside, there is an oak staircase with slender turned balusters and an Adam-type mantel.
