Description
A former water mill and miller’s house, dating from the 18th century, with a possible earlier core to the house. The mill is timber framed and weatherboarded above a rendered brick ground storey, with a pantiled roof. The house is rendered and whitewashed, with 20th-century plain tiles. The mill is three storeys and attics, while the house is two storeys and attics.
The mill has scattered fenestration of 2-light casements with glazing bars. A central attic gable features a lucam flanked by 2-light cross-windows with elliptical heads to the lights, with further attic lights in the gables. The south gable has 20th-century double doors and sashes with glazing bars on the ground and first floors.
The mill house is attached to the north gable of the mill. The front facade consists of three bays and features two 3-light Gothick casements with Y and intersecting tracery and pointed arched heads. A central doorway has a 6-panel door, with glazed upper panels. The north gable of the house displays a large chamfered tie beam at eaves level, a 3-light first-floor casement with transom and glazing bars, and a 2-light Y-tracery attic casement. A pantiled, one-storey lean-to is located at the north gable, and a 20th-century extension projects from the rear.
