Description
Avington Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the early 19th century and was extended in 1955 by architect A.H. Howard. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a slate roof. It is two stories tall and consists of a three-bay by three-bay layout, with each end set back by one bay, creating an added bay. The farmhouse stands on a low plinth and features a central six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. The doorcase has an architrave with consoles that support a pediment. On either side of the door are 24-pane sash windows, with a similar sash window in the right bay. There is a wide string course at the first floor level. The first floor has three 16-pane sash windows, with a similar sash in the left bay. The eaves are boxed to the hipped roof. There is a stack on the right hip, another on the return ridge at the left just in front of the added bay to the left, and one on the ridge of the right bay.
