Description
No 16 on High Street is an early to mid-18th century house that stands two storeys tall with four windows arranged irregularly. It features a moderately high-pitched tiled roof that is hipped on the left side and abuts No 18 on the right. Above a brick dentil cornice, curved rafter ends are visible. The front is plastered, and it has late 19th-century sash windows set in earlier, near-flush, moulded frames. On the right side, there is a canted bay that extends through both storeys, and another canted bay is located on the ground floor to the left of the door. The door itself consists of two glazed panels, two fielded panels, and two flat panels, positioned in the second bay from the right. It features a panelled reveal, reeded pilasters, and a cornice hood supported by carved consoles. This building is part of a group that includes No 12, Nos 16 to 28 (even), and No 28A.
