Description
Barnfield House is a house that was originally three separate structures, dating from around 1550 and the 17th century, with 20th-century restoration and minor additions. It features a timber frame and a tiled roof. The building includes a late medieval hall with three bays, which originally had a smoke bay that was later filled by a chimney stack. There is another timber-framed building, possibly a granary, that is positioned at right angles and now connects to the main structure through an infilled space, creating an L-shaped layout. The house has a half-hipped roof and a shafted stack. The exposed frame includes infill of plaster, brickwork, and mainly malmstone, with the upper part on the south side and the west gable being tile-hung. It has casement windows and plain doorways, along with a small single-storey service wing at the north end.
