Description

West House is a late 18th-century house with early 19th-century extensions and features. The walls are of brickwork, notable for blue headers and red quoins, with flush panels between the upper and lower windows, and a brick dentil cornice above a parapet with coping. The roof is tiled and the house is double pile. The east front is symmetrical, with two storeys and five windows. The windows are sashes in exposed frames. A large Regency French window now occupies the space previously held by two windows on the south side. A Doric doorcase, featuring a pediment, entablature, three-quarter columns with fluted caps, leads to a six-panelled front door with a glazed upper panel. The interior retains the original staircase and four panelled rooms. Mid-Victorian and 20th-century alterations have affected the rear of the property. A Victorian service wing, which is a separate dwelling and not listed, extends from the south side.
