Description
Bees Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that underwent early 20th-century restoration. The north elevation features an exposed timber frame, with the upper panels plastered and the lower sections filled with coursed malmstone. The other walls are made of malmstone with brick dressings, while the upper parts of the south and east walls are tile-hung. The cottage has a hipped tile roof and a shafted stack. It is a lobby-entrance house with two storeys and irregular window arrangements, featuring casements. The east end was altered around 1900, adding a projected flat-roofed half-dormer and a plain doorway. This building was previously used as a garden store and is located 100 metres east of Old Ashford Manor.
