Description

The Gateway to Ashford Chace is a former barn, now used as a garage and storage space, featuring a central wagon entrance that serves as a through gateway. It dates from the 18th century and was converted in 1912. The structure has a timber frame consisting of five bays with aisles on three sides, and it includes straight struts supporting the purlins and tie-beams. The walls are made of coursed malm-stone with brick dressings. The roof is tiled, half-hipped at the ends, with a catslide at the rear and hipped sections above the projecting wagon entrances. The building also features casement windows.
