Description
The Coachhouse to Old Ashford Manor is a former coachhouse and stables that has been converted into a dwelling and garages. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features roughly-coursed malmstone walls with brick quoins and cambered arches. It has a tiled roof with hipped ends and a catslide along the north elevation, which faces the road. There are two large tile-hung gables and a central square turret that has a blind arcade and a concave roof.
On the inner (south) elevation, which is one and a half storeys high, there is regular fenestration that has been modified to include garage entrances on the east side. The windows are casements, and there is a French door. A doorway on the roadside is topped with a canopy on brackets and rises above the eaves level. A flying bridge connects this building to the Old Manor House, featuring a tiled roof and tiled sides above a cambered arch that forms a gateway.
It is noted that the Old Manor House, previously listed as Old Cottage, has been significantly modernised.
