8/9 Wall and dovecote of Orchard 50m S of Longwood Estate Office

GV II

Wall with archway and dovecote. Circa 1880 by G Devey. Wall brick with stone dressings, and tile coping. Dovecote flint with brick dressings old plain tile roof. Wall attached to end of well house which it ramps down to from 3 to 2.5m in height and next to ramp is gateway wall ramps down again half way along and dovecote is on end of wall. Details of wall same as wall on other side of yard. Dovecote circular with only one opening a brick door opening low down for access from yard. Roof has overhanging eaves and on top octagonal cupola with open sides for birds to enter. Inside converted to fruit shed with nesting boxes replaced by shelves but ladder remains.
