Description

The walled garden and dovecote, located approximately 30 yards south-west of Middle Ord, were built in 1788 for J. Grey. The garden features squared stone walls, with the garden wall raised in brick. The dovecote, which also serves as a summer house, has a felted roof.

The high wall surrounds three sides of the large square garden, with the side walls sloping down towards the southern end. The flat coping adds to the structure's design. There is a doorway into the garden near the north-east corner, which has a lintel inscribed with "JG 1788."

The dovecote/summer house is two storeys tall, consisting of one bay and a square shape. It has a boarded door and two fixed 16-pane windows on the ground floor, along with a boarded door above. The steep pyramidal roof features a small square entry for wood pigeons, also topped with a pyramidal roof.

Inside, the dovecote includes a small corner fireplace and a finely-moulded cornice. The first floor contains brick nesting boxes.
