Description
The walled garden at St. Peters Lodge, which includes a dovecote, dates from 1813 and features a wall that extends west from the house to the dovecote, then returns to the south, with the southern section built in 1872. The wall is constructed of brick in English garden wall bond and topped with ovolo stone coping. The dovecote has a gabled design and is floored internally. The north gable has been opened and fitted with double doors beneath a segmental relieving arch. This gable is also pierced with four diamond-shaped ventilation holes on both the north and south sides. The dovecote has a gabled roof with a gabled louvre and contains 189 square nesting boxes. The wall returning to the south, also in English garden wall bond, is supported by sloping buttresses and features a double crenellated parapet with ball finials at intervals.
