Description
5 and 6 East Street are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. The left side features painted mathematical tiles, while the right side has buff mathematical tiles. They have a modillioned cornice beneath a slate roof, which includes end stacks and two flat-headed dormers. The buildings rise three storeys with attics and have a slightly irregular two-window front. On the second floor to the left, there are two glazing bar sashes, and to the right, a tripartite sash. The first floor has two canted oriel bays with moulded cornices, and the ground floor features tripartite sashes. There are paired entrances in the centre of the ground floor, with panelled doors; the right door has an upper pair of glazed panels. These entrances are separated by a central pilaster and framed by pilastered surrounds topped with a flat entablature hood.
